Children’s Mandalas

When Michele’s granddaughter was in Montessori School, Jan, her 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, asked if she would lead a mandala class for the students. Michele said she was a little nervous at first because she had only taught adults, but all took to mandalas very easily. She passed out white cover stock paper with a circle drawn on it and felt markers. Michele led a simple guided meditation and each class (she taught 4 different classes) was asked to draw their inner flower, inner sun, inner light and peace. Their inner light mandala drawings are shown. In one hour some of the children did up to 3 mandalas and Jan said they were so much quieter than usual as they worked on the mandalas. Later, Michele heard, the kids begged to do mandalas when they had finished their assigned work.
